Terms of Service

These terms will govern your use of the smtplens diagnostic tool. Until formally adopted, the following principles apply:

• → The tool is provided on an "as is" basis without warranty of any kind.
• → You use the probe endpoint at your own risk. The operator is not liable for any damages arising from use of the tool.
• → The service is provided free of charge at the Free tier. Use of the Pro tier (described in the Billing section below) is subject to payment terms.
• → You may not use the tool for any unlawful purpose or to probe servers without authorisation.
• → The operator reserves the right to change, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without notice.

Full Terms of Service will be published when the operator's legal identity and contact details are established.

Billing

This section applies to the smtplens Pro tier once it becomes available for purchase. Until then, no charges apply and no payment information is collected.

What you are buying. The Pro tier unlocks higher rate limits and longer probe timeouts on the smtplens diagnostic tool. Details of what each tier includes are listed on the Pricing page.

Price and billing period. Pro is billed at $12 per month, recurring monthly. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled.

Payment processing. Payment is processed through a third-party payment provider. No credit card numbers are stored by smtplens. The Pro tier requires a valid payment method to activate.

Failed payments. If a payment fails (e.g. card declined, expired), the provider will retry the charge automatically. If payment cannot be collected after multiple attempts, access to Pro features will be suspended until a successful payment is processed. Your probe history is not stored, so no data is lost during a suspension.

Refunds. If you cancel your subscription, access to Pro features will continue until the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are given for unused time within a billing period.

Cancellation. You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time. After cancellation, you revert to the Free tier at the end of the current billing period.

The Pro tier is not yet available for purchase. This section describes the billing terms that will apply when the tier is launched.

Privacy Policy

smtplens is designed to be privacy-respecting by default. The following describes how data is handled:

• → No personal data is collected. The tool does not require an account, login, or email address to use the Free tier.
• → Probe data is not stored. Each probe result is returned to your browser and immediately discarded by the backend. The operator does not log hostnames, ports, or probe results.
• → No cookies or tracking. The site does not set cookies, use analytics, or employ any third-party tracking services.
• → No data sharing. Since no data is collected, no data is sold, shared, or transferred.
• → Probe requests are sent over HTTPS to the probe endpoint. The hostname and port you enter are transmitted only for the purpose of performing the diagnostic probe and are not retained.
• → Standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, request path) may be retained temporarily for operational purposes (rate limiting, abuse prevention) and are not used for profiling or analytics.

A formal Privacy Policy incorporating the operator's identity and contact details will be published when those details are established. Until then, this notice describes the data practices in effect.
